Why Do Entrepreneurs Know How and When To Talk? 8/12/2017

Register for BootCamp LIVE NOW

Have you heard people talk, talk talk but take no action?
How does it feel to be on the receiving end of all that talk?
Entrepreneurs on the other hand like to take action, then talk later.
Which style is right depends on your audience.
Obviously, if you need to do a lot of convincing to gain buy-in, your best bet is to
"socialize" the topic and desired outcome.
Suggest, recommend and "think our loud" the objective, taking note of key
objections, concerns and feedback. What good does it do to talk, talk, talk?

On the contrary, talking is natural. So, it makes sense to listen to people talk.
It's when you don't hear anything that you should be concerned.
Talking is especially important when it comes to team dynamics. Some team members
talk, while others listen. Just because someone on a team does not talk, does not
mean they don't know how to talk.

Consider a team of four entrepreneurs. If one is the talkative and the rest are not,
who would you assume is the leader of the pack?
Now, reverse the scenario and three members are talkative but one is not. Again, who
would you assume is the leader?
Talk is cheap but action is expensive.
Next time you are in a room, observe who is doing most of the talking and who is
taking note. At the end, ask questions of the note taker. You would be amazed at what
you'll discover.

I'd like your thoughts on this topic. Do you talk more and why? If you don't talk a
lot why? How does talking impact leading?

Hack #45 Becoming The Entrepreneur You Were Meant To Be - 8/6/2017

Hack #45

Becoming The Entrepreneur You Were Meant To Be

It's not as sexy as they make it to be: Entrepreneur! What if I told you it is, would that change your mind in wanting to become an Entrepreneurs? Some people say entrepreneurs are born not made. While there is truth to some of that, some entrepreneurs did not actually achieve their fame until later in life.  So is there a secret sauce to becoming an entrepreneur? I don't know. However, I know it takes a lot of discipline to become good at something. Here are a few tips I learned on my way to becoming an entrepreneur:

First, be yourself.

Don't try to be like the famous entrepreneurs you see talked about everywhere. I won't mention their names so you can focus on being you.

Second, trust your instincts.

Do you ever have that tingling feeling sometime that makes you feel you've just discovered a better mouse trap? Perhaps you have. But you just brushed it off. Take an inventory of ideas and table them for later.

Third, be hungry.

Have you noticed entrepreneurs all share a common trait? They are all restless and always looking to outdo themselves. Think about it. That's what keeps them hungry. You too can be a hungry entrepreneur. Just don't hold a sign on the street corner. lol.

Finally, listen to your critics.

We all have them. Critics, haters or strategic advisors. Listen to them. They have seen some people fall and fumble. So, don't brush off criticism, even if they are not constructive. Give them a head nod and take note.

Hack #44 - What Climate Issues Are You Most Concerned With?

Just the thought of climate issues makes me tense a little. I know I'm not the only one. What if we already have innovative solutions to our climate problems? Would you be interested in learning about some of the novel solutions? Well, we've got the perfect mix of science, agriculture and innovation with our inaugural podcast episode. First, let me begin by thanking you for listening to SAPCO2 podcast. I'd like to begin by stating this is not an attempt to solicit funding of any kind. Second, as we delve into the subject matter of climate change, I know there are various solutions currently competing for recognition. I think that's a good thing. From Elon Musk to Bill Gates, Entrepreneurs are using their ingenuity to tackle todays biggest challenges. So, is our podcast pioneer. Let me introduce our main guest on this podcast episode. Wilson Hago (on right)

Wilson Hago started worrying about climate issues working for a company in California called Cool Planet Energy Systems located about an hour north of Los Angeles. This company amazingly was worried about the existential risks associated with continued consumption of gasoline products and its effect on planetary temperature. Being backed by venture capital, it collected investments exceeding $150M in its efforts.  Wilson learned a lot working for the company and was employee number twenty-two - #22. An important lesson learned was the idea of carbon negativity, where carbon is extracted from the atmosphere via photosynthesis and converted to a long-term storage material.

The advantage of this process is that it gives Hago Energetics a chance at solving a major global problem with the free market, and help rebuild the soil in the process.

Fast forward to present day, Wilson is now running a company called Hago Energetics. At Hago Energetics, the idea of carbon negativity is being extended and applied to carbon dioxide emissions from power plants. The basic idea is to take these emissions and, using renewable energy such as solar panels, wind and biomass, and to convert these emissions to liquid fuels and carbon that will be stored in the soil in perpetuity.  The advantage of this process is that it gives Hago Energetics a chance at solving a major global problem with the free market, and help rebuild the soil in the process.

The storage carbon is a soil amendment which can help plants grow faster. In conversations Wilson had with famers in California, while listening to their concerns, he stated to SAPCO2 podcast that

"I know that this product can help these farmers and pretty much all farmers in the world."

                           Hago Energetics XPRIZE feature page
Hago Energetics' approach has been vetted by industry professionals. Indeed, the company placed as semi-finalists in the Carbon XPRIZE, a worldwide challenge aiming to find good uses to carbon dioxide.  Hago Energetics is prototyping a machine that performs this conversion. In that regard, they are looking at tapping the public markets to help them build this machine. In future podcasts, we will describe the technological approach in more detail. We will also take a broader look at the problem of carbon dioxide conversion and utilization.

Be sure to like, share and subscribe to the SAPCO2 podcast. Comment below, we'd like to know what you think. What Climate Issues Are You Most Concerned With?

Hack #41 - Taking Action Without Complete Information - 7/1/2017

Taking Action Without Complete Information - Hack #41

Are you a procrastinator or are you an action oriented individual? Some people want to take action but don't know how. It's not a problem. The problems comes when that problem keeps stirring you in the face asking you: what are you going to do? Your answer probably goes something like this: "Let me think about it," or "I will get to it next week," "I am out of town," and the list goes on, on and on. I have analyzed successful people and the one common thread I notice is they all know how to TAKE ACTION WITHOUT COMPLETE INFORMATION

That what sets them apart and keeps them at the top of the food chain Yes, getting more information about something is great, but by the time you get all the information, the opportunity may have already disappeared. This happens alot in certain highly regulated industries like Financial Services. On the contrary, complete information is always worth its weight in gold. For instance, gathering market intelligence with which to launch a new strategy or enter an unproven territory. In the final analysis, it's not when you make the decision but actually taking action. Did you know that for 90 percent of the decisions we make everyday, we don't need complete information? It boils down to making the decision or not making the decision. Of course, one caveat is if you need to get approval or permission to take action.

Nevertheless, I will submit that you don't need complete information to TAKE ACTION. TAKE ACTION THIS NEW MONTH AND LET'S CIRCLE BACK IN 30 DAYS AND YOU WILL BE SUPRISED AT WHAT YOU'VE ACCOMPLISHED.

Google Hit With A $2Billion Dollar Fine By The EU!!

According to Reuters, Google has been fined $2.7Billion dollars by the European Union (EU) for "anti-competitive" practices. Full story here

What does that say about the power Google has over global markets? The EU apparently had enough and levied a huge fine to let Google know who is "boss."

Do you think this fine is fair to Google? Is Google anti-competitive? What shopping markets did Google corner? According to people familiar with the case, this fine was as a result of a seven-year investigation. Further, the story continues, Google has 90 days to end the alleged anti-competitive practice or face additional fines.

5 Reasons Why Niche #Podcast Ads Are The New ROI King Of A Growth Hack!

Hack #38

Advertised lately?

I'm sure you got a huge #ROI on your impressions! I'm also sure your sales funnel saw an uptick not to mention the level of conversion you are enjoying. Here are 5 reasons #advertising is in serious trouble and what you can do about it!

1. Advertised on the #socials lately? I'm sure all those likes are showing up on your bottom line. Oh, all those word searches, boosts and views will automatically covert to sales.

2. Advertised on #Radio lately? Those 30 second spots sure do sound great but who remembers what was said in the next minute? Is that enough time to build an enduring engagement with potential client, customers and users of your product or service?

3. Advertised on #Television lately? Watch closely and you will see your ads cut off or be counter programmed just to expend your impressions. Is that an effective use of your ad dollars?

4. Advertised on #Print lately? Print still has a certain level of mystique to it. Enjoy it but soon it will be a thing of the past. All those dollars wasted on paper. Do you remember the last time you looked at the classified section? I thought so.

5. Advertised on #Billboard lately? Now that seems to work if you are on the I-4 or I-75 corridor in #Florida. But you have to spread the billboard every 5 miles or something!
So, advertised on #Podcast lately? Podcast? Yes, on Podcast! If you are not advertising on Podcasts you will be so sorry you let this secret pass you by. Well, it's not a secret anymore. You need to be #podcasting

Ask me how I can help you get started #Podcasting.

Hack #39

Problems Persist At VA As New Overhaul Law Takes Effect

Do problems still persist at the VA? Who is responsible for the long wait times? Are VA employees and leadership taking appropriate steps to help our Veterans get the care they deserve? What will be the result of VA employee malfeasance? Are VA employees negligent in the performance of their duties?

The Department of Veterans Affairs Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act of 2017 marks Trump's 40th law signed.

President Trump just signed legislation into law and said:

"What happened was a national disgrace and yet some of the employees involved in these scandals remained on the payrolls," Trump said just before signing the bill. "Outdated laws kept the government from holding those who failed our veterans accountable. Today we are finally changing those laws."

The Real Reason We Are So Empty - Hack #37 - 6/22/2017

Hack # 37 Do you ever wonder why everything around us seem to be falling apart? People are not getting along anymore, countries remain at odds, children refuse to listen to their parents, parents don't know where to turn for help? Even those available to help are overwhelmed? Do we need to get another awakening to know we don't need a lot of materialist things to be happy. How do we measure happiness? Is it based on our worldly possession?  One time I was in a hurry to drive to an appointment and my car stopped at a stop light. There on the corner was a homeless man with a sign that read
"I am saving to go find a job."
When I saw that sign I didn't know what to think. At least he had a plan. Do we have plans no matter our situation?  What worries you at night? What keeps you awake at night. Can you turn your worries into a profit center or a new business? Think about these questions. The absolutely has to be a reason for all this. Is their a master plan that we are being kept from knowing? A higher plan beyond our comprehension? These are some reasons we are so empty. An empty vessel can either be used for a highly calling or can be filled with worldly desires, worldly lavishness and worldly ways. Could that be the reason we are so empty? Comment below. I'd like to hear you thoughts on this topic. Don't forget to like, share and comment.
